This is the guide for Adam Attwood's Winter 2011 History 117 Class.

The Writing Process

Scriptorium-monk-at-work

Learning how to write well and cite your sources properly is essential to success in this, or any, class.  This page will provide resources to help you with the process and give you tools to help you cite sources properly.  Please let me know if you want to see any additional material on this subject.

Selecting a Topic

Selecting a topic can be challenging.  On the one hand, you want to find a topic that's interesting to you, but you also want to balance that with the practical side.  For example, are there enough sources for me to use on this paper?  Also, you want a subject that is narrow enough for a short college paper, but you don't want to make it too narrow and technical to find good resources.  This box will provide links to resource that help in this part of the process.

E-tutoring

E-Tutoring now available through Spokane Falls

All current SFCC students have been uploaded into the eTutoring system, so they can now log in to access online tutoring. Students can use the online writing lab to submit papers, meet with a tutor via eChat or submit questions.

To access eTutoring, students can go to www.etutoring.org, click on the Northwest consortium, select Spokane Falls from the list of schools, and follow the instructions on the log in page to get started. There you will also find a list of subjects offered through eTutoring.

Peer Services will be offering a variety of training sessions for any staff or students who would like to attend. More information will be coming soon on the dates and locations.
