Most scholarly journals are still available only for a fee or subscription (or through a subscription database, like those you can access through the SFCC library website), but there are some journals that publish their content to the web for free.
"A one stop shop for users to Open Access Journals," the DOAJ facilitates browsing and searching of free, peer-reviewed journals available online. You may have to wade through a fair bit of scientific and technical publications, but there are some relevant journals indexed here, including most of the titles listed below.
Project Gutenberg is a library of over 60,000 free eBooks. Choose among free epub and Kindle eBooks, download them or read them online. You will find the world's great literature here, with focus on older works for which U.S. copyright has expired. Thousands of volunteers digitized and diligently proofread the eBooks, for enjoyment and education.
