Free and Open Resources: Open Education Resources

This is a mega-site that includes resources in Rice Connects. You may limit to post-secondary. One problem when I drilled down to my subject I kept clicking on the title I wanted to see. Click on the box with the arrow beside the title to see the content.

Offers students free textbooks that meet scope and sequence requirements for most courses. These are peer-reviewed texts written by professional content developers.

The primary goal of the Community College Consortium for Open Educational Resources is to identify, create and/or repurpose existing OER as Open Textbooks and make them available for use by community college students and faculty.

"The ... Library contains freely accessible academic books, mainly in the area of Humanities and Social Sciences....Academic books in DOAB shall be subjected to independent and external peer review prior to publication." Worldwide mainly European so many foreign language books are included.

Courses seem very well designed. Information on remixing also ideas and tools for enhancing online classwork.

The open textbooks below have been published by the University of Minnesota Libraries Publishing and are licensed to be freely used, adapted, and distributed. We can help faculty and instructors author and use open textbooks in their courses.

Syllabus course readings for MIT classes, like viewing someones Blackboard only better organized. The classes I looked at were using textbooks.

Nicely done textbooks online. Sadly no humanities classes. You may sign-up to use their courseware to develop and share a class.

Creative Commons is united with Open Education Resources to promote development and posting of free and open web content.

The primary aim of DOAB is to increase discoverability of Open Access books. Books are peer reviewed and most are available as pdfs. Overlaps with DOAB.

We scour the Internet for the best quality textbooks issued under open licenses that allow for printing. Instead of finding a list of 500+ books, you'll find a short list of books we feel are really adoptable and ready to use in a college classroom.

As of 2017, Boundless courses are no longer available, but Lumen Learning has archived the materials available at that time.

Not really open but NAP allows downloading of one free pdf for all publications. Llicensing with cc fee is requested if you intend to distribute book contents. Publisher specializes in science, social science math and education.

PLOS is a nonprofit organization of scientists and physicians committed to making the world's scientific and medical literature a freely available public resource.
