Accessing Spokane Public Library Resources: Home

SFCC's new partnership with Spokane Public Library allows SFCC students, staff, and faculty access to a free SPL card!

Did you know that all SFCC students, faculty and staff 
can get Spokane Public Library (SPL) cards no matter where they live?

This means access to all of SPL's physical and digital collections.

Getting a Spokane Public Library number & PIN

STEP 1:

If you don't already have an SPL library card associated with SFCC, go to: 
SIGN IN/SIGN UP on the Spokane Public Library website

Scroll down to PARTNER LOGIN and click on Community Colleges of Spokane.

STEP 2:

Login with your Bigfoot email and password.

Reminder: 

  • Email: first name first initial of last name last 4 digits of student ID @bigfoot.spokane.edu
  • Reset password by contacting IT Help Desk at 509-533-4357 #2

STEP 3:

The first time you set up your Spokane Public Library account using the PARTNER LOGIN you will need to input your contact information.

Online form for updating you information to access your library card and account.

  • Choose a preferred contact method.
  • Create a PIN. Remember this PIN!
  • Click SUBMIT - you will automatically be logged into the catalog.

STEP 4:

Click the PROFILE tab on the right hand menu to view your newly issued Spokane Public Library barcode.

Important!!! Save the barcode number somewhere. You must to keep this number to login to all SPL digital resources like Kanopy.

Questions or issues?

If your card number and PIN do not immediately work after completing the application, you need to contact Spokane Public Library staff. Tell them you're an SFCC student. (Don't attempt to apply for a card number and PIN more than once.)

Kanopy Streaming Videos

Kanopy: Setting Up Your Account the First Time

  • You will need an SPL card number to create your Kanopy account. If you don't have one already, you can set one up online. Follow the instructions on this web page, under How to Set Up Your Spokane Public Library Card.
  • Once you have your SPL card number you have to register for a separate Kanopy account at the Kanopy website.
    • You will need your SPL card number and your personal email address.
    • Once you've created your Kanopy account you can access streaming videos in Kanopy through their app or website.

Kanopy: You Already Set Up Your Account

  • If you have already set up your Kanopy account via SPL, then go to SPL's Kanopy website and login using the LOGIN button in the top right corner.

About Kanopy Streaming Video

"Kanopy streams media from any computer, television, mobile device or platform by downloading the Kanopy app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast or Roku."

Important Things to Know About Kanopy

  • You may borrow a maximum of  24 credits per month. Credits reset at the 1st of the month. The number of credits required to watch films varies by title. Kanopy Kids and Great Courses videos do not use credits.
  • Films can be viewed for 72 hours.
  • Videos cannot be downloaded at this time. 
  • You can create clips and organize them in a playlist.
  • Full accessibility: Kanopy meets all accessibility standards-all films have captions and transcripts and are compatible with and visual impairment technologies.
  • Public Screenings: Many films from Kanopy come with Public Performance Rights (PPR). Viewing films in a group forum is permitted as long as the viewing is by authorized viewers and it is not for commercial benefit (i.e. no admission costs are charged and no profit is made from the screening)." - Spokane Public Library (SPL)

What is LinkedIn Learning?

LinkedIn Learning provides online trainings for a range of business and technology topics. 

How to access LinkedIn Learning

You will need a Spokane Public Library card number to access LinkedIn Learning. If you don't already have a Spokane Public Library card use the instructions on this guide under How to Access Spokane Public Library Materials to create a card number and pin - then go to Step 2. 

2. Go to spokanelibrary.org.

3. Click on “Research & Learn.”

4. Click on “LinkedIn Learning.”

5. Log in using the library card number and PIN associated with your Spokane Public Library card. 

6. You are now in. If you want to begin learning without setting up your profile, click the X in the upper right hand corner of the welcome screen. 

7. You can search for a particular course or browse using the “Content” tab on the left.
