SFCC Library Fall '24

The Bigfoot Survival Guide: Study Skills, Resources, & Library Secrets. Presented by SFCC Library.

Due to the restructuring of Learning Support, the Library is no longer offering the Bigfoot Scavenger Hunt. Instead, we have created The Bigfoot Survival Guide as its replacement.

This guide features a video focusing on essential study skills, campus resources, and library services to support student success, such as knowing your resources, planning ahead, and asking thoughtful questions.

Students can watch the video to gain insights, and faculty have the option to pair it with a pre-made, adjustable assignment designed to reinforce and develop these skills.

Say Hey to a Librarian Today

SFCC Librarians are available for a quick, start-of-the-year drop-by to give a brief 5-10 minute welcome to your students, encouraging them to explore and utilize the library’s resources.

You can also embed a Librarian, with the role of Librarian, in your Canvas course to answer student questions and make helpful announcements, offering research assistance tailored to your class.

This is especially beneficial for online and hybrid courses. Contact a Librarian in your subject area today!

Book It at the Library: Schedule Research Consultations at the Library & Online

Students can easily schedule one-on-one research appointments with our knowledgeable librarians. These sessions are designed to give your students the personalized support they need to excel in their research projects. Each appointment lasts for a convenient 25-minutes, which means they can get the guidance they need without taking up too much class time.

How to access research appointments:

Flexible Appointment Options

We understand that schedules can be a bit hectic, so we've made it easy for students to access this service. They can choose between in-person appointments in the morning or Zoom appointments in the afternoon, Monday through Thursday, from 8 am to 4 pm, and Fridays from 8 am to 3 pm. This flexibility ensures that students can receive the help they need when it's most convenient for them.

Calling All Faculty-Specific Assignments
If you have specific research assignments lined up for the quarter, don't hesitate to share them with us! Let our librarians know about your upcoming assignments, and they'll be ready to assist your students with their research needs. Feel free to inform your students that they can schedule appointments to get expert help with your assignments.
